Following the Brief given we selected Transport as our focus and identified a focal problem that we could work to solve:
“Design a low cost, low maintenance and environmentally sustainable transportation system or solution to allow people to travel and transport goods within the region. Despite the roads being impassable or eroded away, the design must be structurally sound, safe and deliverable to the affected area.”
We worked through a lot of potential solutions to solve this problem but the one we settled on was a design which was flexible in its application. The designs key component are the boards which can be fixed together for whatever length and width is required, which allows for vehicles to traverse over the affected terrain. The boards are locked together with sliding joins and pins on each end to secure them in place.
