Design Idea: Sustainable Bricks
Sustainable Bricks intends to provide solutions to various problems. From roads and flood defences to housing, the possibilities are endless. When thinking of the brick design, our initial inspiration was obtained from the design of a Lego brick. This concept allows full customisability. Taking this idea as well as the structure of the conventional clay brick, the group produced a design that uses the combination of sand and plastic instead of clay, whilst still implementing the characteristics of the Lego brick.
The bricks use an interlocking system which allows them to be easily stacked as well as joined from the sides. The extrusion at the top as well as the indentation on the bottom will allow the bricks to stay aligned, hence providing stability.
We've provided a few pictures (CAD design & prototype) to show the overall shape of the brick as well as a short video that provides further details about the design.
